First Quantum does not expect further Covid disruptions at its mines.
With the Cobre Panama mine back at full production following an earlier Covid-19-related shutdown, Toronto-listed miner First Quantum does not expect any further disruptions related to the pandemic, with precautionary measures in practice at all its operations.
The Cobre Panama mine, which was shut in early April by order of the Health Ministry of Panama, has not had any on-site Covid cases since May. Operations resumed in July and full production was achieved slightly ahead of expectation in mid-August.
IronRidge starts Phase 3 drilling at Zaranou gold project.
Africa-focussed minerals exploration company IronRidge Resources has started its third phase drilling programme within the Zaranou gold project area in Côte d’Ivoire, with about 50 000 m of drilling planned.
Zimbabwe issues mining ban.
According to a report by the BBC on September 9, mining is no longer allowed in all national parks in Zimbabwe. This decision was prompted by a court action taken by an environmental organization.
