Canadian uranium prospector Appia Energy will launch the Alces Lake project summer drilling program from June to July. The project is located in Saskatchewan and has an area of approximately 14,334 hectares. Tom Drivas, CEO of AppiaEnergy, said that among the global rare earth reserves, Alces Lake may rank second in the world and is one of the most promising rare earth mines in the world. The project is expected to fill the gap in the North American rare earth market.
Kinross Gold makes important progress at Tasiast Gold Mine
Kinross Gold has reached a principled agreement with the Mauritanian government, which will better balance the interests of both parties involved in the Tasiast gold mine. Under the terms of the agreement, Mauritania will provide Kinross with a 30-year Tasiast Sud mining license. Kinross will also receive nearly $40 million in fuel tax rebates by 2025. Kinross will pay the Mauritanian government $25 million.
